Adriane Fleming, Program Manager for the Greater Los Angeles Region, joined Read to a Child October 2019. Adriane received her bachelor’s degree in Women’s Studies, with a minor in English, from San Diego State University. After graduating, Adriane worked for a nonprofit providing assistance to victims of mass marketing frauds and was able to recover and return over $250k to elderly victims. In addition, she was able to help law enforcement build cases against perpetrators on a $30-million scam that was later featured on “Nightline.” After having a child, Adriane turned her efforts towards helping her local community by getting involved with the Wiseburn Unified School District’s PTA. Besides taking on the role of Treasurer for 2 years, she has served on several school district committees. Advocating for equity is a cornerstone in all projects Adriane pursues. She is most proud of her work with Read to a Child, helping to develop the virtual Read Aloud Mentoring Program which connected students and volunteers throughout the height of the pandemic to create a sense of safety and normalcy through curated Zoom sessions.
