Dr. Albert Sackey is a distinguished educational leader with over two decades of progressive experience in public education administration. Currently serving as Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning at Hartford Public Schools, he leads curriculum development and instructional programs for more than 16,000 students, demonstrating his commitment to equitable and inclusive educational experiences for all students.
Dr. Sackey’s extensive career encompasses transformative leadership roles across Connecticut’s largest school districts. As Assistant Superintendent for SEL, Comprehensive Health, and Student Affairs at Bridgeport Public Schools (2023–2025), he managed a $125 million budget while overseeing special education services for nearly 20,000 students. His principalships at Hommocks Middle School in Mamaroneck, NY, and Nathan Hale Middle School in Norwalk, CT, showcased his ability to improve school climate, student outcomes, and instructional practices through data-driven decision making and innovative programming.
His expertise spans special education program management, curriculum alignment, and social-emotional learning initiatives. Dr. Sackey holds a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership, Management & Policy from Seton Hall University, and complemented two master’s degrees in School Administration and Special Education.
Recognition for his exceptional contributions includes the Connecticut Assistant Principal of the Year, Excellence in Education Award from the Connecticut State Board of Education and the prestigious NAACP/NCNW Thurgood Marshall Educator of the Year Award. He actively served on the boards of the National Association of Secondary School Principals and Connecticut Association of Schools, demonstrating his commitment to advancing educational leadership and policy at the state and national levels.
